Who we are looking for
This is an excellent opportunity to join our Payments Operations team playing a key role in shaping and managing the bank’s international payments operational framework and infrastructure as the Payments Operations Lead. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient, secure, and compliant processing of cross-border transactions and CHAPS payments, while also contributing to the ongoing development and expansion of the bank’s international payment capabilities.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Lead the operational build-out of international payments, collaborating closely with Product and Technology teams to ensure new payment channels are successfully implemented and delivered within target timelines.
- Develop and document end-to-end operational processes for international payments, ensuring clear procedures are established, maintained, and effectively communicated to the wider Operations team.
- Deliver training to internal stakeholders, ensuring a strong understanding of new payment processes and operational enhancements across the business.
- Provide expertise and hands-on operational support for the implementation and ongoing management of SWIFT Bureau services.
- Act as the primary operational point of contact for third-party providers facilitating the Bank’s access to CHAPS and international payment networks.
- Serve as the escalation point for international transactions, assisting clients with processing queries and leading investigations into payment issues to ensure timely resolution.
- Drive process improvements and automation within CHAPS operations, enhancing system connectivity while embedding a robust control framework to mitigate operational risk.
- Play a key role in the Bank’s initiative to secure Direct CHAPS access, working directly with the Bank of England to align with their project requirements and deliverables.
- Produce detailed reporting on project progress, operational performance, and key international payment metrics, ensuring visibility across stakeholders.
- Develop expertise across all payment operational processes, demonstrating flexibility to support ad hoc tasks and cross-functional initiatives as required.

- London (5 days per week in the office)
or - Belfast (4 days per week in the office)
